PianoCam

Terms of Service

Effective October 6, 2026.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the PianoCam app and related services at pianocam.app and api.pianocam.app (together, the "Service"), operated by Mayank Sanganeria ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required in your country to use online services without parental consent. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

2. The Service

PianoCam turns recordings of piano playing into performance videos with falling notes and sheet music, and exports video, MIDI and MusicXML files. Notes, hand assignments, chords and notation are generated automatically and may be inaccurate; you are responsible for reviewing output before you rely on or share it. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time.

3. Your content

You keep all rights to the videos, audio and other material you record, import or create with the Service ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, process and transmit Your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you, for example to identify notes or arrange notation, as described in the Privacy Policy. This license ends when the content is deleted from our systems. You are solely responsible for Your Content and confirm that you have every right it requires, including rights in any music, compositions and recordings, and the consent of anyone who appears or is heard in it.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) use the Service to create or share content that infringes copyright or other rights, or that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or exploits or endangers minors; (b) reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, overload or interfere with the Service or its servers, except where the law expressly permits; (c) circumvent credit, trial, device or security limits, or access the Service by automated means; (d) resell, rent or sublicense the Service; or (e) use the Service in violation of any law or of the rules of any platform you share to.

5. Sharing to TikTok and other platforms

The Service lets you share videos you export to third-party platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and YouTube using those platforms' official sharing tools. Nothing is shared without your action: you choose the video, and the platform's own app or screen handles posting. We do not receive your password for those platforms and do not post on your behalf. Your use of each platform is governed by its own terms and policies, including TikTok's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, and content you post must comply with them. We are not responsible for third-party platforms, their availability, or how they handle your content.

6. Credits and purchases

Falling-notes videos are free. Sheet music uses one credit per video; eligible new devices may receive free trial credits, subject to device eligibility checks. Credits are sold as in-app purchases through Apple's App Store, and payment, billing and refunds are handled by Apple under its terms. Credits have no cash value, do not expire, cannot be transferred or redeemed for money, and are tied to your device as described in the app. Unused credits are forfeited if you delete your cloud data. Prices may change, but changes do not affect credits you already hold. Except as required by law or provided under Apple's refund policies, purchases are final.

7. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including Apple, Cloudflare, Replicate, OpenAI and PostHog, as described in the Privacy Policy. Their services are subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.

8. Our intellectual property and license

The Service, including the app, software, templates, designs and trademarks, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules. You may use videos you export with our templates for any lawful purpose, including on monetized channels, subject to the rights of others in the underlying music. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.

9. Feedback

If you send us suggestions or feedback, we may use them without restriction or obligation to you.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time and may delete your cloud data from Settings in the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, misuse the Service, or if required by law. Sections 3 (to the extent needed to complete pending processing), 6 and 8 through 16 survive termination.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT NOTE DETECTION, NOTATION OR OTHER OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, CONTENT, PROFITS OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND US$50. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions or limits, so they apply to you only to the extent permitted.

13. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from Your Content or your breach of these Terms or of any law.

14. Apple

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability, consumer protection, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo and are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Where these Terms do not address a matter, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies.

15. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page with a new effective date and, for material changes, give notice in the app. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept them.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes relating to the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms limits mandatory rights you have under the laws of the country where you live, including the right to bring claims in your local courts. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.

17. Contact

Questions about these Terms, or notices of claimed copyright infringement, can be sent to support@pianocam.app.
